trilogy review: before sunrise, before sunset and before midnight.

i'm quite a skeptic of any romantic movies but that trilogy really amazed me. the first movie was about two people in a train and their meeting and falling in love. the second one was about their meeting after 9 years and the third one was about their life together.
firstly, loved the fact that all of those films were produced 9 years apart, secondly, looooved the scenery - they were in austria, then paris and then a city in greece. but what i loved most about these movies were the dialogues - all of them were very meaningful, philosophical and dealt with everyday problems and thoughts. many people suggested me watching this but i never really felt like the type who would watch those romantic movies. but i now realize this trilogy isn't just about the love of two people - it's about love in general and the beauty of life. if you're in search for a movie - i do recommend spending around 4.5 hours for this beautiful life story which will amaze you, i promise.

a few movies i love.

i've always been interested in cinematography but last summer and the summer before that was my peak - i read 4 books about movies and i felt like i know everything :D of course i do not, plus, all the information disappeared quickly because i just couldn't make myself watch movies or read about movies this year while studying. but i have much more time now and i'm trying to get into movies more now. here are a few "mainstream" and more "underground" movies i loved.
1. tampopo
a very weird movie about japan's culture and ramen making. loved it because i feel a weird connection to japan and also it had some very funny scenes.
2. le feu follet
can't remember much of it but i know that i watched it when i was being very dramatic and philosophical and i know that i loved it then.
3. pierrot le fou.
yet another great movie from french new wave's era. loved the french vibe, weirdness of it.
4. stalker
a very well-know movie for cinephiles - one of the best works of tarkovsky, very deep, would recommend it to everyone.
5. i origins
i great and different love story, one of the movies which made me interested in today's cinematography.
6. requiem for a dream
an incredibly sad movie showing us the consequences of drug abuse, scenes with that orange haired woman were super scary.
7. coffee and cigarettes
whole movie is made of different dialogues but with same recurring theme, you guessed it, coffee and cigarettes.
8. vertigo
one of my favourite of hitchcock's - visually stunning and with and interesting plot.
9. blue velvet
i won't start blabbering about how amazing lynch is but this is my favourite movie of his even though i feel like every single work of his has a special place in my heart.
10. kill bill (both films)
not a huge action fan but i loooved this. i've actually watched the majority of tarantino's movies and i can say that his aesthetic is incredible.
11. mr. nobody
loved it for the interesting editing and plot - movie shows a few different realities.
12. 2001: a space odyssey
i don't even think i have to comment kubric's work and especially this movie, which hasn't been explained until today and probably never will be.
13. the truman show
only recently i realised what an amazing actor jim carrey is and my favourite movie of his is this one.
14. midnight in paris
one of those movies you can watch 10 thousand times and never get bored - amazing views, music, actors, plot.
15. the rocky horror picture show
don't know why, but a lot of people are against musicals and i tend to enjoy them quite a lot. saw this one about 4 times already - very funny and yet again visually stunning.
16. fight club
the greatest plot twist in film history, an amazing psychological movie.
17. the holy mountain
not a movie for everyone - super weird and artsy, but i loved it.
18. the shining
a classic - love everything about it from the beginning till the end, one of my all time favourites.
19. the tree of life
loved the simplicity of this movie and how it's trying to teach us to enjoy the simple things in life.
20. leon the professional
one of the best action movies/love stories in history.
21. american psycho
scariest movies about psychopaths in business. christian bale is my favourite actor right now!
22. the dreamers
yet another artsy movie about 3 lovers and revolution. really enjoyed it and saw it quite a few times.
23. pulp fiction
most hyped up tarantino's movie but actually a very great piece of art.
24. lost in translation
my all time favourite. holds a great emotion and vibe, love how it shows japan's culture and their isolation and loneliness.
25. we need to talk about kevin
a great drama showing me yet another reason why i should never have kids.

didn't expect to write 25 favourites! i'm sure i'll find some great movies this summer so i'll be posting even more about them.

good and bad places to eat in vilnius.

i looked through my instagram page and i realized how many photos there are of food and coffee shops. so i thought i would write about those places.
1. donut lab.
not the best donuts i've tasted but still a nice place for you and your friends to grab a hot cocoa drink and a few donuts. donuts are around 1.3 euros, can't remember the price of drinks. also if you want to get the best one's you should go there at around 3-4 pm rather than going later because they sell pretty much all of them quickly. oh, and my favourite one is traškis!
2. pilies kepyklėlė.
even though these cakes look so delicious and the place seems very cosy from the outside i've had a very bad experience with this bakery. me and my boyfriend got different types and a few bites in we realized that the taste was somewhat strange. an hour after eating these we got horrible stomach aches so we are pretty sure that was because of these cakes. maybe it only happened to us but we sure as hell will never go there again.
3. keulė rūkė.
a very hyped up place with interesting people, good looking burgers and wonderful interior. was a bit hard to order since there wasn't an actual menu but we took i guess the usual burger with pulled pork and paid about 6 euros each. my boyfriend loved both the burger and potatoes and i really couldn't finish the burger. maybe that was because i'm not much of a meat eater and pulled pork is apparently not for me. i did not even enjoy the potatoes, just seemed a bit tasteless for me.
4. second cup.
for me, one of the best coffee shops in town. i've tasted 3 or 4 of their beverages and i loved all of them. the price for them is really great compared to the size of these cups. but i wouldn't recommend it for those who hate very sugary drinks because they put quite a bit of sugar in those (but maybe they would put less if you'd just ask). so, great coffee, great baristas, great interior and the one we usually go to is situated in the city center.
5. burger street.
i saw someone's recommendation on facebook and since at that time i wanted to taste every single burger on the planet, me and my boyfriend went there. the only minus to this place is where it's situated - we had to drive for over an hour to get there and i still don't know where the hell we went :D but i'm glad we did because even though they don't look that appetizing in this photo they were the greatest burgers i've tasted in vilnius and the staff there was also incredibly friendly and funny.
6. manami.
a place with a great view, mediocre ramen and very expensive but delicious sushi. all in all, not the worst asian food place in vilnius.
7. drama burger.
yet another hyped up burger place. burgers were really good, but too small and the price was over the roof - we had to order potato chips since they don't go together with the burger so we paid a little over 8 euros which is crazy. and we couldn't even say that we ate even though we weren't that hungry. so later on going to ikea and seeing 0.5 euro hot dogs, unlimited drinks and cheap icecream  really opened our eyes to new possibilities :D

a few more places:
8. cat cafe - a great place for cat lovers with delicious beverages and quite mediocre food. still, every once in a while i find myself sitting there and petting yet another cat.
9. phun kee duck - best place for thai food!
10. wok to walk - best place for an amazing wok experience. my favourite - with peanuts, oyster sauce and chicken.
11. boom burgers - worst burger i've taste, wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
12. eat more chicken - the best chicken wings in town, burgers are also incredibly delicious.
13. jurgis ir drakonas - love their home-made lemonade and hate how pricey their pizzas are.
14. pinavija - interesting place with very delicious cakes but prices are also fascinating - for the smallest piece you'll most likely pay 3-4 euros.
15. visa pica - a pizza place near me, found it interesting how many people in costumes were waiting for their pizza :D pizza for me was alright but nothing that special. would love to find a good pizza place in vilnius.

leave suggestions for more places! my stomach is ready for some more goodness.

book review - the psychopath test by jon ronson.

finished this book in 3 days so i'd call it an easy read.
book was about author's growing interest in psychopaths - before researching he didn't even know the signs which suggest someone's a psychopath. at first it was a bit too boring to read because the beginning seemed too forced and even though the first story was written for the readers to seek for more i just couldn't find it interesting. but later on, story after story i began to really get into it - what i loved the most were references. different names, books, movies were mentioned so i of course searched for them and got even more acquainted with the given information. author writes about things that are very raw - he was not afraid to tell stories about serial killers, rapist, psychopaths in business and that's what i loved about it.
would recommend reading it for those who are interested in psychotic behaviour or simply in psychology.

putting a face on.

for everyday makeup i don't do much (and i certainly don't invest too much money in it) - firstly i use face makeup and then i accentuate my eyes.
so for base i've been using the same products for about 3 years now if not more - stay matte foundation by rimmel (it's super drying so it won't work for those who have dry skin) is my holy grail, but before applying it i moisturize, then concealer by catrice (a small packaging, but a loot of product), found out about it through a youtuber and it is actually a very great and cheap product for covering those chanel bags under your eyes. after all of that i use stay matte powder by rimmel which is also one of the products every girl knows about. lastly i use a simple eyebrow pencil by essence.
now the part which takes about 10 minutes every day - eyes.
i start by using a liquid eyeliner by essence to do that on-point wing, obviously i only do one wing perfectly and usually mess the other one but it don't matter if you take selfies from that side only;) 3 days later i use an eye pencil by essence on under lash line to make my eyes look bigger, apply one of the greatest (and cheapest) essence mascara's and i'm good to go.

current reads.

1. breakfast with socrates by robert rowland smith.
on the back it says that this book is about simple philosophy in everyday life. i got it from the library because it's been photographed all over the instagram and me, being the white girl i am, had to get it.
2. brave new world by aldous huxley.
been wanting to read this for at least 2 years since it's become quite a classic in readers community. only read one book by him - ape and essence but it was more of a fun read than trying to understand the meaning behind it, most likely will re-read it someday.
3. the psychopath test by jon ronson.
i've read about it a while back so whilst reading it i noticed information i already knew but the first 50 pages i read seemed interesting. would recommend it for those who are interested in psychopaths and for those who are simply interested in psychology.
4. foucault's pendulum by umberto eco.
heard about it in one of my lectures and since i've read the name of the rose i've been interested in reading his other works.

haul #1

for me summer just began since i've finished all of my exams on 17th of june. so i, of course, treated myself with a few new things. disclaimer - even though it's summer i still cannot run away from black and white.
saw a girl on a bus with similar sneakers and i instantly started searching for them. and wanted these type of sandals for so long and these one's from graceland are a god's gift - they're the most comfortable shoes i now own.
my mom ordered these egyptian oil perfumes and i love the chanel one - the smell also stays for a very long time.
and now - clothes.
